| There is nothing wrong with 4th place in the club Mark - better than 14th!
Any more of your missing birds back?
Phil |

| It's not always sunny in frogland either.
We let our young birds out yesterday (Sunday) morning for their normal a.m. exercise, and about 35 minutes afterwards the heavens absolutely opened, thunder, lightning, rain coming down like stair rods, for a good half an hour or even more.
We never saw one of our 28 young birds until way after lunch time. They came back very slowly in dribs and drabs until about 7.30 at night. Then nothing. We had one reported this morning by telephone, which we went to pick up, about 15 miles away. And nothing else has returned at all today. So we still have 5 away.
Having birds away is always a pain in the bum, but we have our first young bird race this weekend and we were hoping to send a full complement.
The day is dull and overcast but the visibility is OK and I really expected some more home.
But hey, that's pigeons for you!

Thanks Mark - but it has been 3 days now, and not one of the 4 missing birds have turned up, so I don't think it is likely now. But you never know! Cheers Phil |

On that question - last night I noticed that just one of the birds that came back after the big storm, was looking a bit ill. On opening its beak, I noticed 3 or 4 little yellow dots down its throat - which I take to be Canker. Firstly, am I right in thinking it is canker, and if so, should I take it way from the rest and treat it with Belgaroni - and for how long. The tub says treat for 3 days. Advice please. Phil |

| yes could be canker or herpes virus but without seeing it myself cant be sure, if the dots are in the roof of the mouth its a sign of a old infection. if its herpes they get small sores in the back of the throat or on the side of it and its not removable being a sore...canker will be moveable with a cotton bud if its herpes then let the virus run its course and give immune boosters and plenty vits and minerals and rest, herpes virus is a real problem with ybs and hard to spot outwardly I actually vaccinated for it last year but never this year as could not get the vaccine atb
ps for what its worth I would hedge a bet its a old infection |
