Crap Corn...?

last week at the corn shop I decided to buy 2 bags of cheap corn, I'd had it before and it was ok, so i bought 2 bags of all round......got it home, opened it and fed them and noticed i didn't like the look of it, the maize was very big and the corn seemed dirty and not clean like some of the brand name ones, it also had these big lumps of something....i don't know what, but the birds didn't eat it, which i was pleased about.

anyone know what these lumps are, ive added a couple of photos below.

needless to say i will be buying some better stuff Monday and getting rid of this......

p.s. i added a % of g10 pellets to the mix, as i feed these all year round.

I would say David that is the ends of the cob the maize has been attached too that is the cheap stuff big time mate

That's the exact same stuff I found in some bags of breed and wean from bucktons, I emailed them and was answered by a nice guy called kirk, I explained to him that they were like grey stones , but now I can see what they were, only in a couple of bags and never had it before and never in any other of bucktons products, but now I have an idea of what they were I'm not so bothered about it

Looks like a high protein mix to me. Birds do not eat corn cob ends. If the price is right stick with it. Corn cob ends do not weigh anything anyway.

True about the weight issue Hal etc I suspect. On the marketing side by the seller not good for his business, if he is looking for his customers to return to buy more grain as such.

got a few bags of vanrobys all round, will be mixing this with bamfords depurative and a small % of g10 pellets, its a lot better mix than the cheap one...
