| Is anyone racing this weekend?
We basketed last night for this weekends racing.
We have two races - one young bird race and one race for old birds from a place called Libourne.
However the weather is not so good in mid and the southern of France at the moment - rain in places and the viz ins't very good either.
Our race from Libourne is right on the path of the big International race from Agen. The International birds were supposed to be up this morning, but because of the bad weather, have been held over until tomorrow.
That means that 25,000 pigeons will be heading directly for our lib point! So they might have to hold our race over until Sunday. Which will mean that our birds will have been in a basket for three nights.
I am not sure abut our young birds yet, but they will have already been basketed for two night if they are liberated on Saturday, another night will not do them any good at all. We have sent ALL 25 y/b's this weekend, so I trust everything will be OK.
But hay - what can I do about it!
What's about you guys?
Phil

| We're UP!
Our birds from Libourne have been liberated at 07:00 local time (six o'clock in the morning for you guys over there in Blighty) - in a North that is basically On-the-Nose for 260 miles. That should make life interesting.
We trust we will see something around mid-day with a bit of luck - but you never, it's a funny game this pigeon malarkey.
All the very best to you all.
Phil (and the loft manager) |

| I see the big International race from Agen has been held over again. Liberation now expected on Sunday.
Some of those poor birds have been in a basket since Tuesday already. However, saying that, at least they know how to look after the birds properly.
Let us trust the weather is better for them tomorrow.
Both of our two lots of birds are up - one lot at 07:00 hrs and the other (young birds) were liberated at 08:30 hours.
Young birds expected in 2 hrs 20 mins for lib time.
ATB - you-all

| We are very despondent about our young birds at the moment. I am trying to get some info without giving too much away.
Very strong wind on their noses, our first 4 were doing about 900 yards per minute, not sure if that is OK in these conditions or not.
Sent 25 y/b's and after 90 minutes after the first one arrived, we have only 13 back.
I trust our old birds do much better.

Maybe the convoyer or the powers-that-be decided to let them go a bit further away because of the tail wind. Who knows? There is madness everywhere! Phil |

| Great news Darren - I don't know about your race but ours was hell!
Some folks sent upwards of 35 birds and only have 4 or 5 back by 8 o'clock tonight.
We still have 6 y/b's missing but they are the ones that have never raced before. I reckon they will be back, but it has been a very hard race for all. Strong wind on their noses, then this afternoon, it is about 28 degrees C.
Our old birds are just the same - we got 2 cocks and one hen back in good time (we may be 3rd or 4th club) but then a big wait - we still have 6 old birds out of 11 sent, that have not returned yet.
I am sure they will return, but they will be no good for next week. No y/b race next week, so at least they can have a rest.
Up-dates to follow I guess.
I hope you have done well.

| sorry to hear that phil and hil horrible when the babies are away sounds like a hard one for their first race (some) ...seems like the old birds found it difficult enough ,did the laying hen return,we did not get a result last night as the results girl was ill I cant believe nobody else can do it so will learn myself ,seems silly to pay £15 a week that could be £300 club funds every year |

| That's not good Phil we had a race from Berwick like that this season, massive losses all round, with lots of birds reported in Holland. I'm 6th this week from Peterborough with a yearling hen I bought from a Tumley lofts last year. I'm thinking of sending her to Thurso this Wednesday. |

What flavour is the bird you bought from Tumley lofts Boosey? We bought a Dai Evans hen from them - lovely bird and doing well for us as a breeder. Phil |
