How many strays have you had in that are unmarked? How many have a tel ring or wing stamped? How many other fanciers have phoned you back to say thank you I have my bird back?
Well I have made every effort to reunite pigeons young and old with there homes spending ages on the phone to organize a lift home and for what? Sweet FA not even a call to say thank you.
I am fed up of people( I wont call them fanciers as there not) who don't give 2 sh**s about there birds and flout the rules for mugs like me to help them out.
From now EVERY bird will be reported and EVERY bird will be collected or sent for, I have plenty of space to house them so get you wallets out Ars*holes and pay your way. To buy a wing stamp would be cheaper Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad !

Every one I notify about a stray tells me to keep it. Out of good stuff they claim. So do not bother any more reporting. I lose very few birds. But some late comers return with the band cut off. That ticks me off!!!

same here cc I don't bother to phone anymore I let the bird recoup then toss away from the loft on a good day hoping they fair well and get home had a few drop in for a drink and feed and be on their way in hours ,its very disappointing fanciers lack of responsibility and gives us a bad name

yes its not cheap steve we always collect if its midlands or south takes the sting out a bit thing is theirs no courtesy when you report a bird to a fancier generally ...its as if its a burden almost your fault for reporting it I think the best way is to feed up and rest and send on its way atb

I always help a bird out if I can as it's not the birds fault if it does a mistake ect ..I try and put it right if possible putting it in a box for a few days ..most of the time others help me out as well .if not I collect if I can or send for it as it's my duty..if someone tells you to kill report them as it's against all the rules and it's not right ...the good thing about the Internet is we are able to help each other out if possible because as mentioned it's very expensive to get them back at 40 pound...another thing that get me is getting them back with ETS rings missing

as in previous topic "Aylesbury" there are lads out there that have a care so best stay with the glass half full thinking, always going to get tossers in every walk of life, but I appreciate what your saying pal it does grind when so called fanciers ask you to get rid or keep it

Over here in frogland, there is NO pigeon transport or couriers that could take a bird back.

I do as other have said - I feed the bird up then take it away from our loft and let it go.

I had one really lovely looking cock here with a NEHU ring on - I rang the secretary who was really helpful and gave me the owners telephone number. Even though it cost me over 4 quid to ring him, because all I had was a mobile number and phone calls to UK mobiles are nuts prices.

I let two messages for the owner and NOTHING - no reply at all.

In the end I tossed the bird - and never heard anything about it since.
