| I remember way back - David put up some very interesting photographs of the eggs he was throwing out and the great variation in their sizes.
My question is:- Do members think that the size of an egg relates to the size of baby pigeon that will come out of that egg?
And if so - does a small egg necessarily relate to an under-developed or weak young bird?
Your answers please.

Personally I do not now. Only had one small egg in all the years. That I noticed anyway.

hate small eggs, does it matter ...not really sure but not too small of a egg the chic can only grow to egg size ,do they catch up once hatched ...well I suppose they could ,never really thought about it in any detail

Sometimes a young hens first egg comes out tiny then they're fine after that, I've had that a few times over the years, but I've always thrown them away. I don't think they would have hatched anyway.

sometimes when ive been ringing ive found one yb to be quite a lot smaller than its nest mate, ive sometimes thought weather I should dispose of it, thinking it must be inferior because of its size.....but more times than not by the time they are 14 days old both ybs are round about the same size, so im not convinced a small yb is any less good than a big yb.
