115 miles again. Sent 10. Not good in the moult. large flight missing on two. Headwind, cloud. Think no better than 950 mpm. Red cock, 1st race. 2nd red cock was 3rd last week. 3rd bb hen large flight missing. Did not bother with others. Sent the 3 in via email. 155 miles next week.

PS to the above. 1st bird had dropped 7th flight in basket. Or en route. So as far as moulting is concerned (apart from body moult) will not pay much heed to it when they go next.

Hal - This is just my opinion and of course you must do what you wish with YOUR pigeons - BUT - don't you think what you are doing to your birds is verging on cruelty!

Birds bad in the moult - major flights missing - knowing it was going to be a hard-ish race, but still you send them.

If you don't want the birds just kill them! Don't send them over a 100 miles in terrible conditions, knowing they will ('by their very nature') try to get home.

What are you trying to prove? - so you get birds back that are falling to pieces, what does that make them? - Defiantly not champions.

I am all for giving our birds challenges and we must challenge them from time to time, but in my book, not like you have just done.

we were 10th club our first pigeon came to win the race but never trapped it was his first race ...in fact he was 6th bird into the loft ...our first yb last week is missing to ah well that's yb racing for ya eh these early yb races are all down to the trapping but at least we know the potentials their its a fine line feeding with ybs whether you send for the result or to get them home but we don't race to the tin atb

well done Darren, at least you know they are coming well, as you say the early races are down to trapping mainly, but I`m sure they will get the idea in a week or so when they get used to it.

Looks like we're either 3rd or 7th, reason being the guys that clocked the first 6 clocked a load of trainers, so we will have to wait and see which are which, if so we could be as good as 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th, the birds are coming nice at the minute, the boys that are doing the winning train every day, something we can't do so we are pleased with the way it's going

Great flying Roy and Daz glad you had good returns mate . Our club had bad returns not sure why because it sounds like the boys up with you Roy had good returns. I had 6 out of 11 back. My first two back where the first 2 i clocked last week. I had 4th and 7th in the club . . The wining bird was 28 mins ahead of 2nd place lol .

Phil. I respect your opinion on most matters. However, I tend to disagree with some of them. ie, yearlings to 500 miles. How about the recent Belgium yb race from over 400 miles? Anyway, the birds I sent were in excellent health. The ones that are back (8 now) are still in excellent health. No signs of stress. Last time they were out they flew 2 hours or better. So 115 miles is nothing. 3 or 4 hour fly depending on weather. They cannot make it I do not need them. "Just kill them?" Unless one ships them one does not know what to kill! If I had that insight I would be invincible!! Of course, as the races get longer one has to be more careful. Common sense. I very seldom kill a bird. Cruelty? Ahem. You race pigeons. You expose them to weather hazards, raptor attacks, hunters guns. Yet you still race them. As do all of us. Perhaps I should enter my band numbers in a racing pigeon online game and put hazards in their way and pick them that way? Sorry. They are here to race. It is up to the individual fancier how he goes about it. Each to their own.
