It's just a mind set thing David, from my perspective etc. People talk about the Belguims flying 400 miles as if it's some great achievment there Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes. Here for 100 years, we have been sending them to 5/600 miles & just take it for what it is "nothing special"  Smile  Smile. cheers

I have flown 350 from the West to East. But that was an easy course. East to West is a headwind course almost every week. Think the liberation point is North East of here. Birds at a new release point just put their heads down and head in the direction home is. Yes, they have to be fit.
Knackered, putting them in the basket can be hard!

Tom Makowecki I cannot remember, but what heart ! Had pigeon winners like that....Red hen 72 EDM 1308, flew right past the loft 13.5 hrs only 2 day birds 410 miles, strong head winds all the way..she won by one HOUR....My whistling woke her up but even when she landed , she did not know where she was ....her eyes were blinking because she was dehydrated and had heat stroke..... Maybe the best birds I ever raced....lost her the first race the next year......I actually think she may have had a stroke !
