Getting near that time again.

Weekend after this one. Will pair up the stock birds. Forecast is reasonable. Just around freezing daytime. Lights have been on. Cocks are getting excited. Wet snow and rain has cleared up. Have to get the heated water bases working. Plus few other mods. Breaks up the dull, miserable, depressing Winter weather.
Howling gale off the Lake again today.
Bands. Was told today a fellow can get me Belgian/Dutch bands. For a price. Idea is to sell the young as imports. Passed on that one!

Years ago HaL here, l bought a pair of Louella imports ????????????????????????      "Rainstorm Verheyes" going by the pommy rings etc from a super stud here that was big on eyesign. Genuine type articile 100% we all were told. Cost me $200 the the pair after the sale had finished, with  most of them going back up north, with an around trip of 1000 miles for  the lucky owner/salesman   on the day as such.

There are hundreds of Auction sites on the net. Fantastic strains or families. One super duper pigeon in Europe if advertised right, can set up a money making dynasty. No wonder people lie cheat and are dishonest?
Million dollar race. 6000 pigeons!! Whatever wins it will be probably lucky! Not superior!

True Once Hal, I won a race with 17,000 odd pigeons in it etc . Being  an honest type Plumber sadly I just put down to luck on the day, even with the head wind as such .

Wind, drag, bird numbers. Breaking points, leaders followers and all the other stuff discussed all the time. A bird in 100% condition will be naturally motivated. If he/she does not do good better birds are called for. One can only condition the bird. Cannot steer it.

Not much luck in a head wind

Another week. Upped the feed quality a little. Will add electrolytes (for the minerals) one or twice before mating. Breaks up the long cold Winter!
