Breeding lights/timing Empty
PostSubject: Breeding lights/timing   Breeding lights/timing EmptyTue Jan 09, 2018 12:50 am

I've got a quick question on lighting the loft. I turned on the lights for the first time ever. How long do I have before the cocks testes, and the hens stuff gets ready to go? I haven't removed the box perches and placed the nest boxes in the loft yet. I need to build 5 more nest boxes and install the fronts. I will do that tomorrow after work. Install the boxes on wednesday.
Basically how long about do I have before the hens start laying on the floor?
The lights will be on for 14 house a day, unless you fellas advise differently.
Thanks all

Better work fast Rom Smile Smile Weather plays a big part etc, but for me here 4/5 days & the eggs start popping out as such & I don't bother with the lights thing either. cheers

14hrs a day should be more than enough. I like to have mine on early morning and have a natural darkening at night. You should see them getting things together within a fortnight.

I will do the same. I turned on the lights at 0430 and let things go dark naturally.
