3 days heavy rain forecast. Hour ago basement sump pump burned out. Really old one. 12 years at least. New one tomorrow.

From last night posting to picking up the new pump today had 4 inches or so of water in the basement. First incident stabbed my hand with needle nose pliers opening the box. Then cracked my head a few times taking the pump to the hole. Could not put the pump in as the motor would be in water. Dropped a few cement blocks in. Put pump in. Outlet plastic rigid pipe could not thread on. Too high. Makes a right turn at top. Hit the ceiling beams. Hands and knees pulled out the blocks. Put in a few smaller blocks. 2 inch clearance between water and motor. Got the outlet threaded. Plugged in and away she went! Ground is so frozen outside will not absorb much water. So heads for basement. Pulled the pump out and the blocks then replaced the pump. Wet and really pissed off came up and got a shower. Was soaking wet but not too cold. All my cussing warmed up the air down there.
