Think it will be a solid colour and probably bordering on mauve.

It would appear not to be developing too well in the feather department, would be interesting to see it fully developed.

Regards.

Really dull day today. Anyway, feathers are all ruffled up trying to catch it. Missed it before, so no handling at all. Seems to be a fiesty bugger. has been hiding well! Weaned it today. Father is a checker pied. Hen BB. Father won me the first young bird race last year.  Ganus pigeon is his father. Blue pied. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Very interesting post, especially for us this year.

Over the winter we bought some Jos Thone stock birds and, if you have a look at his birds, say by going to Google Images, and typing in 'Jos Thone racing pigeons', you will see he has a lot of birds similar in colour to the one in the post.

I have never had any Jos Thone birds before but without a doubt this kind of colouring or grizzle or what I like to call 'mosaic' is very predominant in Jos Thone bloodlines.

We have a few babies that look similar to the bird in this post. I will take some pictures and see if I can get my tablet to talk to my computer.

I have to say, I quite like this colour-way.

Phil

Thank you for the photographs very enlightening.

Did not imagine the result but from past experience one can be suprised at the results of two pairings.

It just adds to the enjoyment.

Regards.

Yes it does. Have many various shades of reds here. Some interesting colours occur besides the expected.

98% here are Oud Vos from Gallez via TMak. Not sure about the Venus bloodlines. Ganus pigeon, beleive he took those pics and peds down when he won the million dollar race. Have not looked for Venus in Europe.
