As expected, birds from one loft wanted to go back to their old flying loft. Some of them anyway. So with lofts for oldies open last few days, much fighting occurring. Yearlings in nest boxes 2 year olds and older had. Battle for territory. 3 weeks to first race so let them go at it. Whatever claims what will return to defend it. Fortunately I have the room in the loft in question. Howling wind today, 60 km. Old birds out. No young. Now. Intelligent pigeon? cu/17/435. BB cock. Always gets in to the young bird loft. Loft for young birds closed when older out. He can still sneak in through a space others cannot. After 3 weeks of removing him let him in there. Were he spent his first year. Intelligence he must have. Determination also. He is a "one off". I wonder if that will translate to his ability to race? He had one race, 115 miles as a young bird. Always interesting!

True, interesting Hal pigeon in question certainly has a mind of his own type of thing & I suggest is a real thinker type etc . Now shouldn't worry about the 115 mile trick either after a phone call I had last night here from my Geordie mate. Filled me in on all the latest gossip from the fed meeting this week he attended. Rota virus issue apparently coming to a final conclusion after 2 years of bedlam, some what with a vaccine about to go on the market in the next month going by those in the know . Part that took my interest was that its not going to be required to vaccinate unless one chooses etc & so if that turns out to be true as such I know an old fella here now, who has 60 odd old cocks & 100 old hens to take up the battle again "unless he falls of another ladder" & who have not seen a race basket type of thing because of the rota virus issue.
