Causes a few minor problems is all. Means all eggs and hatching young will be eliminated tomorrow. Will give them their 2nd shot training tomorrow. Supposed to be a good day with a strong headwind. They flew good today, much time on the wing, old then young. Two Red tailed hawks eating a baby deer killed on the highway not far from here helped. Plus the buzzards circling the kill.
To me the birds are as ready as can be. I do not think I have to train daily at all. They know the way back. After a few races when the unflown yearlings learn the landmarks all should know the way. They make or break.
Got in to a discussion today with a fancier. He was bragging about his "good pigeons." Spent much money on them. Asked him during the conversation how many he had left from his expensive breeders. Said not many but they are good! Asked him how many he had left from a fellow fancier. Cheap ones. Said quite a few and some do perform excellent. But getting rid of them and going with the new stuff. His reason? He can sell off the new stuff. Illogical to me but each to their own.

There is little logic when pigeons selling and buying is involved.

There was a case locally a few years ago when a loft that had paid thousands for foreign birds decided to attempt to get their money back based on the source and pedigrees, they had, had, the pigeons for a couple of years and won very little.

They were advertised just on the pedirees and made a small fortune relative to their lack of performance.

Another fancier who had won numerous prizes which beat the above week in week out offered youngsters for very little money and sold none.

Funny old game.

Regards.

True with the logic scenario bit Misty Smile Smile Crazy, crazy world Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes when one attempts to buy pigeons at times. Burnt fingers Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad & an empty pocket bounce bounce on average is the usual outcome for the dreamer types as such, I suggest Wink Wink. cheers
