| Agree with oldstrain, you should have an outsider judging all shows, to save any accusations of possible giving a friend a helping hand, this in no way implies that it would occur but all round it is sensible.
We always had outsiders judge that could not be aware of whose birds were whose.
Regards. |

| Then, David, one should do ones share of judging when requested but not be taken advantage of by ones good nature.
Best of luck and I hope you have big classes.

| Only visited the NEHU Show once, made big mistake, looked in one class and said those who had entered the pigeons in the class knew nothing about showing.
They were all Up North Combine Winners.
A show pigeon needs everything necessary that is involved in the right place, in the right condition, and in the eyes of the judge more pleasing looking than all the others.
Shows give the little fancier the chance to compete on equal terms as many vary good lookers and handlers are useless racers,
Even in the flown classes the pigeon could have taken a week to fly the distance needed in the flown classes, showing can give much enjoyment in the closed season for racing. You do need show cages and a club could do many things to obtain the money to purchase them etc;
Regards. .

| How times have changed,
We used to have club shows every fortnight during the Winter months, the average entries between 150 and 200, in four classes.
We only had 200n pens and the four local clubs all used to participate, latterly they hold very few shows now. No one can be bothered.
We had judges from outside the area and tea and coffee and cakes were always on offer.
Nearly every fancier used to have a go and it was a good means of keeping the sport an all year round activity.
The fact is that as the old timers have been lost so has many things that made the sport more enjoyable.
Sad.
Regards. |

| Our old club, the one we’ve just left, are holding an eyesign show next week, funny enough not one was held while we were members, maybe they’re looking to get some cash into the club now that they’ve ruined it with the arguing over ets |

| Years ago maybe about 1978/9 my club held some good shows, can't remember if it was a show/race or just a show. It was interesting because the judge judged them in front of all the fanciers giving his comments with the aide of a mic. Think it was made more interesting because of the judges opinion on each bird. Oh....the judge....Rod and he can talk |
