Those type of days are gone now on average I suggest Misty, unfortunately for many etc now. Facebook, twitter/internet/mobile phones I'm are the new pet thing for the modern day types these days now sadly I suspect.

well we are getting there...inner cladding and insulation boards removed on old yb loft all perches etc removed ...the old bird loft has been re-positioned and was quite some job for me and bert (the father in law) but the old plumber and the got their in the end...just have to take down the shell of the old yb loft tomorrow and we are done

Lucky to have Bert as such handy & on site I suspect O/S with his experience factor & if he is a typical type plumber like the ones I know I would place him in the all brawn & no brain category etc     which is certainly a handy type partner to have with your rebuild there maybe I suggest .

6.6" and built like a outhouse oz just the job ...of course I am the orchestrator and need to view from afar so to cover everything spoke with Donald about the old yb loft panels and he says he could do with a bit of cheap fencing

Hope the new lofts inmates win a few races for you and appreciate what you do for them, would be very interesting to know what a pigeon thinks is an ideal loft.

indeed misty it would I think they are happy enough in most lofts if their dry and not draughty and your calm around them...the main thing is contentment inside that loft for me they seem happy and healthy enough in the old bird loft and this yb loft is the same design they have a box flight on the front so they can get all the weather they like ...I have made my own lofts before now its not imperative what it looks like to me but it is to the neighbours so unfortunately expensive as I wanted a practical loft to with the thickest boards and extra thick flooring for durability ...yes the looks for the neighbours they have never complained about the birds ever as I respect their space to and the lofts are well kept ,atb

I am out in the boondocks. No one close. Pigeons adjust to any loft. As you said. Feral pigeons live and nest in one of the sheds. Winter and Summer yet seem quite happy.

6'6 inches & built like a sh*t house etc I suspect some how maybe, you may just be yanking my chain here. Next O/S you will tell me he worked down the pits there also . Now I know another plumber type built like a sh*te house as such But he is 5ft tall & 5ft wide type of thing & I call him with much affection here The little fat man .

no I am being honest oz her indoors is 6,1" surrounded by giants here he used to work the sledgehammer to down at the blacksmiths back in the day retired now but still very able despite carrying some old wounds ,lucky to call on him but it all swings in roundabouts,way it should be with family and friends ,no need for money to change hands just favours

Like the bit about money not changing hands, have been on both ends and never regretted making money a no go area.

I agree a good looking loft is necessary in a way, no neighbor wants to be looking at a wreck nor should they have to.

In theory in our area the loft size etc; has to be given before approval to erect is given.

Have however over time seen some lofts that have apparently grown with age and not always in the right proportions.


Seen winners in every type of loft, some that appear not suitable by some fanciers but then they cannot read a pigeons mind and results are better than theory.


Just enjoy what suits you and hope the pigeons feel the same.

yes loft size needs to be submitted this one is actually slightly lower and a few feet shorter than the one coming down ,never a truer word said ,results will tell if birds are happy with it

Ok See I always thought etc types, were just a bunch of midget types as such .

old loft is down now,today I was reflecting on its fun and games this last 9 years and winners clocked to it but onwards and upwards eh...concreted some slabs in for the blocks to sit on...base should be finished tomorrow new loft comes Wednesday

Erection should not be a problem. Cold weather or otherwise. Cialis works.

well its installed and treated it today ,furniture tomorrow then sort the trapping ie bolting wires /landing board then paint job...mind you I do like the natural wood effect

Natural is good But maybe not on a pigeon loft O/S thou . Wear & tear & all that scenario as such    .
