I'd love to visit one of these European pigeon shows, make a long weekend of it,  wonder how Brexit will affect them? Got to get it on my bucket list .

Same, same here Barnie with the visit thing etc But what's this Brexit thing as such you mention, is it a new breakfast cereal maybe or on 2nd thoughts a new circus in town for the peasant types to watch as such .

Had to ask etc May just have to start charging thou maybe I'm   I suggest if Brexit evolves some where down the track as such     to just help balance the books at the end of the day I suspect .

A grand looking bunch of fanciers, another 20,000 of a similar age would see a far better future for the sport.

Something sadly wrong when you see a bunch of fanciers obviously enjoying our sport and all it has to offer and yet unable to attract new fanciers.


Perhaps one of the fanciers could give a run down of their visit and anything different from our shows etc;.

their dosh they earnt it up to them how they spend it nowt to do with anyone else

There is nothing wrong with anyone enjoying themselves or spending their own money in any way they wish, my concern is that future generations have the same opportunity to do the same as the guys involved obviously enjoy all aspects of the sport and are proof it is well worth being involved.

The problem is letting the general public being made aware of the opportunity to become involved keeping things in house ???????.

thing is, joe public tend to think of pigeons being vermin, flying rats etc.......this is mainly due to indoctrination by such organisations as the rspb and the media in general.

One of the main reasons for our sport not having much publicity etc; is because animals of most kinds do not appeal to many of those in power and if a complaint of any nature is made they just act irrespective of any facts.


In our town several old ladies only pleasure was feeding the ferals in Peaseholme Park, they went every day irrespective of the weather conditions.

A visitor, a lady???? complained that the roof of the band stand was a disgrace covered in pigeon droppings, she had visited about once in twenty years.

Within a couple of weeks the council had all the pigeons culled.


The idiots did not realize that the droppings were from sea gulls and are now far worse than before. seagulls a protected species

They are every where David I suggest "the do-gooder clowns" sadly. After that 5 minutes of fame on TV & then the twitter face book crowd join them all for their 5 minutes of fame also unfortunately, from my perspective here. TV show here popular with a certain type Called Married at first sight . Crazy stuff but crazy world now as you say type thing.

Could maybe suggest Misty the general public do know to a certain degree what is happening with our sport on average, with the pigeon flyer fraternity passing on our sad sorry saga situation through the family tree & the pub scenario type of thing. My place here is the meeting place for all the young chicks with their prams as such from the local scene when they stop to let their toddlers run rampant through my wife's fairy garden up top here while having a morning chat with her & also even when she is not there    . Rarely do they ask about my birds flying the sky for the enjoyment factor above. Different world, different pressures these days now & little space left for many of todays generation to be thinking about taking up pigeons as a pass time/full time pleasure I suspect/suggest. Now     was round at my secretary's place yesterday here     talking the talk as one does etc     of our local sad sorry type situation. 100 years plus of memories in action       ing around & we come up with a 1000 members who in our time on the local front have come & gone over time      . One try's hard to think in a positive type nature, but the Titanic thing     just keeps rearing it's ugly head here for me I'm   on my local scene, unfortunately    .

True Barnie the spare hens I noticed there suspect wished they were some where else type of thing I suspect by the boredom factor they had on display etc . End of the day thou a good watch I suggest so thanks for putting it up for all to see here . Myself thou I just took the easy way out at the end sadly & just bought one of everything on offer there for my little treasure box     in an attempt to put some life into the convention there it sadly appeared that lifeless unfortunately through the lack of numbers coming on site, for a look see.
