Yep an Eagle Owl.
D.A.F.R.A our governing body, actually classes this bird as a 'Native' of the U.k!
The R.S.P.B. put out spurious and untruth scare mongering of course.
Worse they actually go out and cull these birds illegally!
They will go, at night, and clear their territory of other predatory birds.
I have put up some down loads of the earie hoots. Many say it works. Neighbours here asked whether my pigeon were being attacked etc. as I would leave it playing through a amp at night lol

One of these in your tree you wouldn't get any hawks bothering you david, probably no cats either.

The only question the DEFRA refused to answer when I applied for information under the right to know Law was when I had been told the RSPB were getting licenses to remove raptors from their reserves.

The RSPB are a Law unto themselves and we only know a fraction of what they get up to.

They are involved more in commerce than protecting our bird populations.

A lot of the income is miss spent on salaries paid to some who would be hard pressed to know a swan from a sparrow.

They are backed up by people as bent as they are.

The only way is to attempt to inform all those old ladies etc; who think the song birds are being protected by donating to the organisation that in fact they are breeding raptors and releasing them to kill and eat the birds they are donating to protect. ( show a few song birds being eaten alive etc;)

I believe the actual monetary reserves this set up has is disgusting when claiming to be a charity.

Regards.

The Raptor Alliance promised action in 2011 (November) we would have action to protect6 our pigeons etc;

2019 they are now taking the matter to court regarding artificial nests in buildings.

Even were all the sites on buildings made illegal, just what effect would it have?.

The raptors would just nest elsewhere and probably in a position more detrimental to the sports pigeons.

The court action should be for the right to protect our pigeons from raptors on our own property.

Although this would not reduce the threat from falcons during racing but changing racing times could.

The selfish fanciers want everything as easy as possible for them to participate and are reluctant to change anything other than their moaning the latter getting greater year on year.

Several proposals have been offered up for consideration that would benefit the pigeons but may just make some fanciers change their selfish ways and so nothing is done, the fancy deserves all it gets and will get worse year on year until action is taken in an attempt to beat the problems instead of increasing them.

PostSubject: Re: Raptors and such   Raptors and such EmptyThu Mar 21, 2019 9:44 am

I will some very good and well know fanciers tried to set up a think tank. This also to act as our Voice to the media! We had very good ways and tips and ways of controlling the B.O.P. problem. Not least thoughts of the Eagle Owl etc.
Of course it had to start as a quango of fanciers. These were picked - but for very many obviously reasons - RSPB and dirty tricks etc.- until up and running. A great way of raising funds - cost free to the fanciers, which many 'Corn Merchants' were willing to share in costs. Also Federations to charge (Donate) 2p a bird likewise clubs etc. I had threatening Emails /P.m's etc. Which I appropriately answered you can be sure of!

Unbelievably we had so called concerned fanciers demanding names to be published! A means of letting the 'Dirty Brigade' know names and addresses! Yes those whom have have placed protected birds in bins and took the police along to find etc. And many other despicable deeds!

Many letters they sent to Pigeon mags, and the RPRA etc. condemning our would be actions. The amount of fanciers saying 'Best not upset the RSPB'! was unreal!

Also when the RPRA put out feelers for a think tank and also for Media Voice' etc. the cost per member of - Then 65p - the out cry was 'NO'! So that was never took of the ground either. The consensus being the wealthy business concerns should do it for free. That they has secretaries and such. To try and explain that these were employed for the smooth running and profit making, plus time met it was a no goer! That was why they WERE successful!

Other happenings you would not believe happened.
The fancier is his own worse enemy for sure. Would arm chair critics waiting - forlornly - for the knights in white armour. P.s. there never was 'Knights In white armour'! It is a myth, a pitiful myth at that. They were there to protect the bosses interests. The 'Knight Templars' were a mercenary brigade run by the Church. Over 200 years they got so rich and powerful that the Pope had to bring it to a halt - allegedly... Still going though.

The RPRA have had a THINK TANK for several years, they must spend all their time thinking what to think.

The sport goes down hill year on year.

Unless the MAJORITY of fanciers demand that something is done, the OLD BRIGSDE will ensure nothing is done that changes their little clique that has ruined the sport over the past 50 years.

Sadly Misty, past has proven, we are but a voice in the wilderness.
However, we trundle on lol.

yes many may agree, but the fear of Man and having to stand up to be counted makes them shield away eh!
