Well, Ken had had a normal upbringing in a tight-knit family of love. With caring parents, and a strong bond of fondness between his three brothers and two sisters.
He went to church regularly, though, to be honest, much didn't seem to make sense. Worse when asking the Vicar in regards as to why, and for understandings. The answers seemed to be only man-made answers. Things said 'Just to serve' as an answers. If he pressed further 'cliches' like 'Ah God moves in mysterious ways'. Or apprehensive silliness of trying to relate to a perception of an understanding. The 'That is the way God wants it'. But Ken didn't want answers contrived by them. He wanted to know what God wanted and meant. To have an understanding of man's purpose in life, especially in relationship to God! Plus 'Why was he here'!
Such as 'Why do people die? Also 'Is this really all God wanted man to do, to achieve? To grow old and die! To what purpose'! That in it's self seemed so surreal from an almighty, and supposedly loving and caring God!
If so why does God say, he often wondered, regards John Ch. 17 V 3 'This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God and the one whom you sent Jesus Christ.'
Also at John 3 v 16. 'For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life'.
So he asked, Why then did Jesus surrendered his life? To what purpose and gain'? He asked, often in regards these parts of the bible. But only made himself unpopular. Not least having the answer 'Just who do you think you are to question your God'?
Ken decided such crap answers were just that, Crap. Deciding in not going to church any more. For the preaching, its self became something, he didn't understand. Further, to think there were 10.000 deviations of so-called churches and offshoots in the U.K. alone! Mostly al having different beliefs and saying and teachings. If there was only one God, then WHY! Became paramount in his thoughts... arriving at it was really just a load of old cobblers and didn't make sense.
Then the thought that they put a man's name above Gods. that in its self seemed devious. That the 'Names' of Peter, Paul and John the Baptist, as such. For they were only followers of Christ. Yet here they were putting their names (followers), not only above Jesus, but God his self! Yes, placing a man's name above Gods.
No, like millions of others, he was led away from knowing God along with religion. For religion in its self became too hard to believe in! A farce!
