One of the best things to give youngsters when they're sicking up is cinnamon, but in my views when a secondary infection takes hold you need to treat with antibiotics, as Ian says nifuramycin is good (although when you say it's £3, that's only for one satchet, it normally sells for £30 a box of ten satchets) I have found Amoxicillin is now the anti of choice for me for YBS, you must follow up with a course of nystatin because of yeast infection in the crop JMO

sorry forgot to say, Elderberry, ACV, or lemon juice keeps the crop acidic so should keep YBS at bay, but unfortunately it can still take hold

Hi I use lemon juice on the corn2/3 times a week. the jif lemon squeezy plastic thingys I use.

more shopping lemons now, but if it helps worth getting

yes those plastic lemons are excellent only 50pence they keep for ages in them, but I use 1 in 2 weeks anyway and small.

does anyone still put brewers yeast powder on the corn? we did it years ago but dont know if its frowned apon now ????

In the homing world this week david bert braspenning says he uses brewers yeast and garlic oil, I do too just by coinciedence so yes people still do.

i use them aswell i drink a lot of tea so got birds some, not tetleys though

hi martyn, yes we used garlic juice or lemon juice to bind the yeast pwder to the corn......seemed to be ok for them, when and how often doyou give it to yours ?

used to give herbal tea on a mon/tue i think steve, was thinking of giving it to the ybs during racing......what type are you using ?

To be honest david I dont really stick to a certain day, but the birds get garlic oil and lemon juice on corn probably every other day. They are looking excellant on it, couldnt be better, The birds all went down smack on time so looking good, I know I got 1 clear egg, but both parents are over 10, but youngsters not due till weekend so hope all hatches out ok, I see you had some trouble, def the weather its mental cold and for the couple of seconds birds leave the nest its easy to get chilled so dont worry too much.

its belgium liquid tea David, 500ml 5ml to 1 litre

Have always used garlic myself but in the water, used it the same way as Dave Allen, in a milk bottle one clover in warm water and left to stand so all the goodness of the clover is contained with in this mixture

But i must say it does stink

was thinking of giving obs something like this as to be honesty ive seen them looking better at this time of year........altho theres nothing wrong with them i think they should be looking better, they havnt been out exercising for quite a while so i wondered if it was down to this ? i didnt want to risk loosing ybs or eggs by the parents staying out because they are not hungry enough to come in..... martyn, do you put anything in the water ?

ive used garlic in the water don, usually one clove per drinker 24/7 but have just put it in twice a week in the past..........not sure which is best...

Always used it twice a week
But if you use garlic lots this can help with keeping the worm count down Very Happy

havnt used it for a couple of weeks, heard some say dont use during breeding as not good for ybs in nest ?????
