| Real good looker and looks in excellent condition.
Have preached eventually clinical conditions end in disaster for over 40 years, ill pigeons needing constant medication etc; and been proven to be true in most cases the fanciers just do not tell you, and would never ever have kept them in that condition myself.
Regards. |

| Bastard hawk just took him earlier, never even saw it happen. Neighbour came to tell me it ended up in his garden. Too late now. Have to keep eyes peeled, never a safe time of year now. Gutted as he was a real character, tame as a robin. |

| Goes without saying barnie, could cry for you, only happened to me twice and I could have gone out and shot every bird of prey, I did dispose of one, left the body where it was, still have photo, came back and somehow never left.
Do not know the answer, but I do know it will come back, know how I felt when using the body of a friend to catch a thief but it disposed of one.
Late friend Pete Straw who lived in country side used to have a trap (cage) and caught several hawks every year.
As said feel for you, know it is only a pigeon but they are to us friends.
Regards. |

| Vowed no prisoners this time around knackered, sods law the only non racer we have got taken just flying out Only dabbling, purely hobby this time mate, if I need topping up with youngsters buy a few in, works out more cost effective than buying stock, feeding them 12 months just to get 2 rounds off, 4 babies, that's if you're lucky that all eggs are full and none go backwards in the nest. In an ideal world I'd have 4 pair stock prisoners and a big aviary for them, see how the future pans out, who knows? |

| I like your post Barnie.
I see both side here regards Stock, or yongsters bought in. I feel the way forward is getting a proven race team. Then these become the breeders.
I, as often stated, would rely on Autum bred birds. A couple of races maybe first season. Then any where. Yes, race teanm, then, as now breeding a few youngster to race the y/b season, if so desdesire of course, But then again the yearlings would be celibacy raced. Most likely the old birds too after a round. J.M.O.
It take 2-3 years though to get a good team you have confidence in. Maybe then a change to boot. |

| Quite a few years since I had stock birds. Penned in that is. Hawks get some of the birds but par for the course. When the weasel nuked a bunch a few escaped. One came back 2 weeks later. Snowstorms etc,. Now it comes in the loft for some food then heads back to live with the feral pigeons. Quite a character. Made its choice.. Was never out, none of them, prior to weasel attack. |

| He was just finishing off these 2 youngsters when the hawk got him but next day they soon started pecking in the nestbox and seem to have come on really quick in a week. If there's a cock possibly the cheq, might put him to one side as bit late to get these raced this year. |
