Looked up fertilisation regarding birds.
Providing they mate eggs will be fetilized in two or three days.

ah right misty, not sure these will be fertile, i know some of the hens were paired to each other, and as we all know hens will continue to lay even though they arnt paired to a cock...fingers crossed they are, but not holding out much hope .

A lot of it makes no sense.
A race bird could drop down for a drink and if they are ARE susceptible to the virus pick it up and take it home.
Have no idea how fanciers can make any plans, things change from day to day.
Never know a situation quite like this before.
Regards.

exactly misty, how do fanciers know what plans they can make, im glad i dont race .........it seems the more the fancier plays by the rules etc, the more complicated it becomes .
fanciers should just say NO and get on with their racing.........inland that is, they wouldnt get over to france .
after all racing pigeons do not get avain flu

Like a ring of fire when I first saw that map covered in rings for the no go zones under discussion etc David. Absolute shambles I'm & how the poor pigeons will be able to safely maybe somehow navigate the different zones there when racing is beyond me I'm .

Could be so but never seen it in my time Misty 2/3 days. Had the very odd 4 day one in the past & that many on the 5 day mark when breeding, I'm long past the stage now of even thinking about it as such here.

Get a book George on the facts of life and read it to him.
Never had any problems with eggs, the pigeons were together all year round.
Some bred in Winter most did not
