OL races a good idea if all the pigeons were healthy.
However, healthy pigeons when going in can be ruined and unhealthy ones improved by flock treatment etc; and the implications and possible detrimental ones no manager can truly manage to give every pigeon a fair crack of the whip.
I always think of the fancier who specialises in one loft races.
He said he enters ten pigeons in one loft races and is happy if he gets 3 in the final.
That about sums it up, but that being so it is still an enjoyable event if you happen to have a reasonable run for your money.
Looking forward to winning George then can borrow a few bob.
Regards.

yes it looks as though it is george .......£200 does seem a bit on the expensive side, but the rpra is £125 and the racing is crap .

it may be £200 to enter a bird lads but look at the prize money for just 300 birds involved look at the hotspot prize money ,get one in the top ten in one hotspot and you probably got yer dosh back and with 300 entries the birds stand a better chance of some decent care and attention i would be tempted

Think its says could be 401 pigeons in the loft, ie 300 in 101 places left.
Could be wrong and misunderstood what it says.
It appears a realy good set up.
Even with 400 I think the fancier appears to have thought matters out regarding the needs of that number of pigeons from different lofts.
Appears an ideal location, one or too trees in the distance but if there are no other fanciers close bye the POPs should not be a problem.
The type of OL I would have been tempted to have a go in.
Hope he has a good result and all fanciers get a run for their money.
Regards.

if this is it's first year at £200 no thanks the one i'm in realize now it's not easy and are taking it slower this year and at £100 it's a better bet would rather have 2 birds in mine than one bird in any other for me it's not about the money in fact i don't know what the prize money is i did see on facebook more than one olr did not pay out the prize money at one time rpra held this but not now and as the saying goes better the devil you know than the devil you don't

not sure what race points they will be flying, there own or racing with a club etc ... i found a bit of info on the fancier who is running it though .
The Lionheart One Loft Race is owned and ran by John Mowbray.
John is 34 and I live in Shilbottle around 3 miles from Alnwick in the heart of Northumberland.
I’ve been involved in pigeon racing from the age of about 7 but really took a firm roll in the sport when I returned from the army at 25. I’ve always flown with my Dad “Big John” a full apprenticeship you could say and now with the partnership changing due to my dads health I’ve decent to take the plunge into One Loft Racing. It’s been a dream of mine to do this for a few years now.
In our partnership Mowbray, Son and Allan I did play a role within old bird racing mainly concentrating on the hens but my main job was to run the young bird loft. I created my own young bird system and have adapted my Darkness system to where I get the birds perfect all the way throughout the season.
The last two seasons we’ve had 29 x 1sts as a partnership as well as plenty other positions improving all of the time.
My vision is to create the perfect loft environment for young birds, keep them healthy and education is paramount. A lot of roadwork when they are ready they will be trained as I would train my own young bird team.

Have you any idea David which club he and his father are members of ?.
Would give thought for consideration to just what percentage of the entry monies will be left after all commitments have been met.
He must have invested in a transporter of some kind if 400 pigeons were involved.
Will be interesting to follow this event if all above board wish him well.
Regards.

John Mowbray gets a favourable mention regarding deep litter in the BHW this week, Up North Combine with BP.
Hope it goes well for him and those who enter.
Maybe OL events will be the only ones that survive in the end.
BP is sick of the regulations being imposed and considering options for future years as I feel are many fanciers.
Feel this season will determine much for many fanciers.

i agree misty, with this avian flu being blown out of all proportion i feel it will see a lot packing in ....i also feel this is another infringement on our freedoms.
next we will be taking our birds to the club and there will be police at the door ....."papers please" , who knows maybe we will be wearing a yellow star on our coats ....

From the outlay regarding the OL races there could be some very burnt fingers.
Some set ups must have costed a bomb and would be hard to dispose of if things went wrong.
