Welcome Cent nice to hear from new members especially from another country.
We deal mainly with racing pigeons and of various colours.
We do have fanciers who have show pigeons and others with odd breeds.
Fanciers come from every walk of life here and most are fanatical about our feathered friends.
Unfortunately our sport is on the decline for several reasons.
How is the racing side doing over there ?.
Regards.

Shouldn't be dying of the cold I suggest unless one is very old in nature, maybe. Never in all the time here did our Hal from Canada, mention cold as a major issue with his birds & for what I remember it reached minus 20/30 odd at times in winter where he lived in his little piece of paradise as such there. End of the story pigeons here have been found living happily down in the Antarctic regime here when lost, so why should a wee bit of cold weather worry them type thing . cheers:

Yes it puzzles me Knackered why they should die from the cold.
However they do not look as robust as the racing pigeon.
The % also puzzles me just how many die.
Just wonder where they come from originally.
Also wonder what they do with them, certainly not racing pigeons.
Strange.

only reason i can think of a pigeon dying of the cold is if the bird is weak or ill anyway , and it just dies because it cant continue .......... similar to a car battery, if the battery is weak or not in good condition then once the cold weather / frost comes the battery will let you down, whereas during the warm summer days its fine .....
