I find your comment George unfortunately, rather disappointing somewhat I'm to a degree, from perspective down here. A breath of fresh air is how I would best describe what she does as such, for your sport there in general. I know I know nothing type thing but how many of us here as a general example would be prepared to step forward maybe in the cause of perhaps maybe making our sport better overall hopefully like I suggest she has done in a thoughtful maybe professional way in her own way. End of the day I'm in love more now so to speak after watching her video type thing, as the first pigeon there that she mentioned was actually called Genevieve & so I couldn't do anything else now than wish her all the best in her new venture looking into the future. For the curious here maybe thinking, what's the importance a simple name like Genevieve & it's importance factor. Well my lovely 2nd daughter here of many years, is actually called Genevieve, Rose. Such & such strangely enough .

At least George she is having a go at promoting the sport.
Do not like the manner the stock birds are treated.
Well done for trying but not the best enlightenment to our sport.

Maybe not the best type thing Misty but better than many/most on average I suggest. Had many a cringe moments here I'm when going through the pigeon video type circus as such Most would be better maybe throwing their camera away if they really wished to help our sport in general, instead of perhaps just being on some ego type trip of self-glory .

Agree with that Knackered does the sport no good showing lofts like bungalows and thousands paid for pigeons along with it seemingly having to have a vet in the back garden and a chemist shop at hand.
Then without stating the facts shows them outside their posh lofts with ill gotten silverware gained only by advantage.
Should be showing the modest working man's lofts and the enjoyment they get from the sport.
Regards.

Must be about the worst time ever to attempt to promote our sport.
There are far too many pro rata monied fanciers come into the sport and made it a business rather than a sport.
I never worried about them, my pigeons were happy and contented and repaid me well they had no idea how little money I had but on face value a youngster now with all the alternatives many bad and addictive is unlikely to be interested in a sport that needs daily regular attention.
So you are left with the possibility that the only recruits will be the undesirable. monied ones.

Misty I think there's always been those with the edge, plenty of money and professionalism, as far back as whenever it all began really.
Over 50 years ago I remember reading about doctors, factory owners, vets, barristers, professional people with loft managers and pictures of houses and barns converted into lofts. I'm sure a doctor with his knowledge of medicines would use this to his advantage without a second thought against club members who worked in factories and mines.
For example Victor Fabry's loft in the 1930's......
In the same way you just have to attend an auction of flavour of the month pigeons to witness fanciers from a modest working class background, paying thousands for pigeons that are just a page full of ring numbers. From my own experience not every fancier entering the sport is rich with a fancy loft and intent on drugging or medically abusing their flock, the rank and file are still those honest hard working fanciers who make this a great sport. (Maybe it's my nature to always look on the bright side) ?

The grass root fancier barnie has always been the main stay of the sport without whom it could not function in any reasonable fashion.
There were rich fanciers 80 odd years ago when I was first interested in livestock including pigeons but they never took advantage of the miners who were the most involved in the sport, they used to challenge each other not enter club racing etc; at grass root level.
Our sport started in real decline when we went continental and introduced their pigeons methods and PROBLEMS as I predicted several times in the BHW.
Instead of keeping it basic it has been turned into a nightmare for both pigeon and fancier.
Regards.

Same, same scenario down here I'm all went down the sewer in a major way when the imports were allowed back into the country after many years of having a closed type boarder here from my perspective. Wizards always talking the talk of great things with their imports but most on average are hard to find at seasons end here strangely enough, somehow .

A few not even half there I would say here & that's being rather generous somewhat. Truth be told Misty he even forgot somehow all the magic type elixirs/potions available that we all must have now etc .

Only ever raced against one Mega rich type down here (plenty of pretenders) in my time. Name of Vanhobogan Dutchman. Actually had his own professional soccer club here, back when along with a loft manager to clean up the sh**e type thing & train his birds. Funny thing was I actually bought my one & only clock of him (STB) on credit of a pound down & pound a month type thing when a young teenager living the dream in a pigeon sense & living down by the seaside etc here. At the time I didn't know his history, till years later I built on my little mountain top here as I speak & joined his club by chance. Good club member any money he won, always left for members to enjoy as such on race day & much the same with his business venture of selling STB clocks to the sport, as any money made at the time was just peanut type money somehow I suspect when added amongst all his other major business ventures, back when.

Never ever had any respect for a fancier who did not do his/her own mucking out and other of the menial tasks involved, loved doing the lot myself.
Still got my STB Knackered unopened with two rubber still in from two yearlings from a 350 mile channel race, both having been in a basket only once previously from 60 miles, sent four, got one later in the day and never clocked it it also had had only one 60 mile race and never in basket previously.
Would not have been in the prizes and had to go a decent way to the club and not being in the best of health called it a day.
The lads in the club offered to do everything for me but one young fancier, son of a good fancier said, "Sit down I wiil see to everything for you".
But travelling and not knowing one day to the next health wise called it a day.
Miss them more than words can say.
Thats life.
Regards.

The old STB type clocks Misty well & truly stood the test of time I suggest & basically were fault free with little maintenance required overall on average. I doubt very much here if my fancy new Benzing wizz bang clock now in use for the first time this season here will last as long as such, even thou it's supposed to have a battery life apparently of 40 years.
