PostSubject: Pigeon Forumotion Oneloft Race - 2011   Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:02 pm

    “Pigeonforumotion Oneloft Race”

Initial idea being drafted by Kev d last year, who unfortunately through no fault of his own had to withdraw the idea which was a shame as a lot of work had been discussed, therefore to keep this dream alive:-

I will purchase 40 rings from the National Flying Club for 2011, with the objective of these birds competing in the NFC young bird race in 2011, these rings will be sent out to competing members who will place these rings on their own birds for entry into the oneloft race (it will the responsibility of the breeder to get the birds to the loft). As discussed previously i will be in the north west & Scunthorpe areas towards the end of February if meeting arrangements can be agreed.

These birds will be raced by myself in our name, but any prize/pool money won by these birds at either club, fed or National level to be paid out to the breeder.

Please see below first draft rules:-

    1. Entry £15 per bird, 40 x birds maximum (first come first served), this fee will be split with £10 towards loft costs (postage, feed, medication, vaccination, entry into the 3 pre-races), £5 will go towards creating a prizefund/prizemoney (based on the full quota this will mean £200 prizemoney).
    2. All birds to be at the loft by latest mid-march.
    3. All birds will be placed on the darkness system.
    4. All oneloft birds will be housed in their own section and split cocks/hens prior to racing, run together only on marking day.
    5. These oneloft birds will have private training and a number of races (training) with the Wiltshire federation prior to the main NFC race.
    6. In the three training races prior to the Final Race, the oneloft birds will be entered through the club as our race team or part of, any prizecards and/or money won will be forwarded to the breeder.
    7. The first draft programme for these birds (if federation stick with proposed) will be:-
    23/07/11 – Seaton (Wiltshire Fed - 86 miles)
    06/08/11 – Exeter (Wiltshire Fed - 105 miles)
    20/08/11 – Exeter (Wiltshire Fed – 105 miles)
    03/09/11 – Fougeres (National Flying Club - 216 miles)
    8. Prizemoney will be divided equally amongst the 4 x races above, with 3 prizes per race, 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
    9. All birds will be recorded using ETS (Electronic Timing System) and printouts sent to admin for clarity (these will be signed as true record by our club officials).
    10. Final race(NFC), the entry fee of £3.50 per bird to be paid by the breeder by latest 25.08.10 along with any pools required.
    11. All oneloft prizemoney will be forwarded to the three winners after each race, Any prize and/or pool money won from the final race will be forwarded to the breeder as soon as receipt from the NFC.

    Other idea’s:-
    1) To hold a fundraising auction in late March with all money generated going towards increasing the oneloft prizefund only.
    2) Maybe, hold a similar completion with the survivors for next year, with final race being targeted as Saintes (NFC – 397 miles), with similar entry fee’s should this initial race be a success.

The only risk as i see it is the repatriation costs should a bird/s get lost and have to sent for by courier (if i am unable to collect personally which i do in 90% of all cases). It may be worth thinking of increasing the initial entry fee to £20/bird, with costs split as above and the remaining £5 to be held in a fund to cover any repatriation costs if needed, with whatever isn’t used going back into the prizefund for the final race?
