david if i had a pound every time i have heard said the ybs fly much better when theres fewer in the section allocated to them then i would be a rich man and yet they dont listen to their own words

no, altogeather i should have 32 ybs off 16 pairs (if all goes to plan ) ...out of these 12 will be going to you, mark, rudderfet (yb exchange) and two other fanciers , so this will leave me 22 for my self plus i will have 4 coming to me from others which altogeather means i should have approx 24 ybs

yes darren, over crowding, poor ventilation causes desease and flyaways according to what ive read......

50 is enough for us david if we loose 15 or so it keeps us at a fine size of race team for the next year

yes i agree john, i would prefer maybe 30 as i know i will loos somw before racing but i suppose i will be ok with 20 ish as i know i will loose maybe half a dozen training etc.

thats right david we are lucky with having a single loft just for racing the youngsters so theres plenty room for the 50 but like to see about 40 to 42 when racing starts

idealy i would have liked to have about 40 ybs and seperate them into two sections cocks and hens, but as ive not got my new loft built up yet this will have to wait til next year........

i didnt separate them last year david and had the best results yet only 1 race i wasent in the fed tickets with the young birds

im going to try get this years ybs to as many races as i can because the 2010 birds only had two newarks(56 mile)

yes david good idea most of my young birds went to 180 some to 240 and two to 330 last year

out of the 10 yearlings which went 56 miles i will be holding 5 back which wont be racing this year, im going to try get two rounds off them and then maybe race them next year if this will be possible...?

yes you got to think of the following year david never put all your eggs in one basket

yes john this is what im thinking, should they still be ok for racing after missing the yearling stage ? they have had two 56 mile races and a dozen 35 mile trainers......

i would put them to 140 this year then stop them but i wouldent stop them until they have at least done 100 mile

the reason im stopping them for this year is because i want a few ybs out of this fammily/breed of pigeons, if i loose the cocks by racing widowhood i will be gutted as i cant get the same blood again to replace them and will be left with just their hens.

david i only have a small team 7 paires and 5 spare hens , only 5 of them have been raced the rest have been
sent as trainers to only 70 miles this season i intend to send the lot over the channel im not
messing about with them if there fit there going i only worry about the pigeons that are in the loft at the end of the season im not botherd if i only end up with 4 left i will breed round them at least they will have been tested . don,t be to soft on them .

the parents of these cocks have already been tested by the fancier who bred them for me, he bought the original 3 pairs of stock birds way back in 1986 and has bred from these with the ocasional bird/s brought in...........im planning on using these and another pair off ken to form the base of a family.

o well then keep them back if this is going to be the start of a family david good luck
