Caraway Query Empty
PostSubject: Caraway Query   Caraway Query EmptyWed Apr 06, 2011 2:15 pm

Hi, I'm researching/writing a book on spices, and I've come across a story that suggests that pigeon fanciers mix a little caraway seed in their bird's food before flying to ensure that they return. Caraway, apparently, was thought to have powers to bring back lost things - not just pigeons!

I suspect that these days, pigeon feed is too scientifically crafted for a bit of superstition, but I was wondering whether any of you either do include caraway, or know of fanciers who did this in the past?

Many thanks,

Sophie
