The best thing Martyn even Dave Allen does the same thing mate, take a look at the artical in the British Homing World Stud Book of 1987 or 1988 the first picture is Dave standing by a bin with the lid on his hand

Asked Dave about the artical and he said everytime he went to the loft he look to remove weak pigeons and when he could come from the loft empty handed he know things were correct within the loft

Onderwerp: Article in British Homing World

Hi Bert,

My namer is Don Webb and i live in an area in England called the West Midlands, i follow your articles as i like sprint racing myself upto 200 miles, i have kept every article which you have had produced in the British Homing World they are all in a folder which i can refer back to from time to time

Bert the reason for sending this email is because in this weeks article June 3rd 2011, you commented on using bleach in the water fountain for e-coli

Could you please inform me wether it is "House Hold Bleach" or a different form of Bleach which can be used when sterilizing young babies bottles as this is a different type of Bleach but much milder compared to House Hold Bleach

Bert i look forward to hearing from you and may i thank you for taking the time to read this email and reply back

Many thanks yours in sport

Don Webb

I remember my Dad when I was a kid dabbing bleach on pigeon Pox with an ear bud, he said it had to be really cheap value stuff, as the dear stuff like domestos is too strong.

You can only get the best out of any pigeon by firstly providing it with the means to be in the best possible health and secondly by motivating it to want to return to the loft as fast as possible.

In the first instance it must be basically healthy in the first place, you cannot make a basically ill pigeon better by all the rubbish spoken by the commercial boys nor by fanciers adept at telling porkies.

How anyone, I am not worried how many wins they have had, can give pigeons bleach and think it can help in any way that basic common sense treatment would do defies logic.

Perhaps the fanciers concerned would like to try a glass of domestus and see just how good they feel.

Regards.

There is little wonder why some young people would frown on some of the treatment some fanciers impose on our feathered friends.

had this discussion with fanciers over the last few years, and the amount of people who give bleach, or think its ok to give bleach is alarming........no offence to anyone, but anyone who puts neat bleach into their pigeons drinking water for them to drink cant be right in the head. JMO

washing the drinkers in bleach, as long as its properly rinsed wouldn't be that bad, but giving pigeons it to drink, is not for me or my birds.
