YB feeding before basketing...?

this friday will be my first yb race so im wondering how best to feed before basketing, do i feed as normal and give the full amount on friday morning...? or do as some have told me in the club and feed heavy thursday night and then nothing but a bit of small seed friday mid day , just so they would have a drink of water which incidently had been removed on thursday night.......

any advise anyone.......?

ill be feeding mine as normal on fridays afternoons

no feed at all till you get to the longer races, then just a light diet mix, plenty of clean water nothing added

i feed an ounce per bird around 8-9 in the morning of basket then i give them light seed so they go to the drinker about an hour before i basket

i feed them about 10 am with gerry plus and then take drinker away then about 3 pm i give them 2 hand fulls and put water back in then basket for 5.15

I feed As usuall with a fairly light mixture, gerry plus if you have it or super widowhood is perfect at about 8am, then at 9am remove drinker , they get small seeds like trapping mixture at 11am drinker goes back with honey added, then at 2.30 off to the club.

why remove the drinker are you going to watch each bird take a drink when its replaced or leave them that dont drink at home your denieing them water
serves you right if you loose them its silly

8.00 am 1 ounce per bird junior plus 2.00 pm small seed mixed with a little rice

Mine get fed as usual in the morning (conditioning mix) and some more small seed in the early afternoon - something like sunflower hearts gets wolfed down. I also give them a couple of peanuts each (more for my conscience I think ), a late afternoon exercise then left till basketing around 6.45pm. The water stays in all the time, but mine are comfortable in the basket and will happily drink from the drinkers that are put on the side of the basket.
