hiya guys wonder if anyone can help on this one for me ?? when i let my birds out and sit in the garden watching them, they fly for around 15 - 20mins they then land on the roof of the house, as soon as they do this i shake the can and they drop like stones straight into the shed, good control but crap flying i ask myself. the next experiment i did was to let them out but watch them from the bedroom window were they couldn't see me, every time i have done this they fly for over an hour and when done they drop straight into the shed no messing , i then go down to the shed to feed them shaking the can as i walk up the garden. now the question is the first method, i have control when calling them down but they dont exercise very long, but letting them do there own thing without seeing me , they get more exercise, but is this method going to bite me in the arse come race day when getting them to drop in on my command. cheers for your input in advance

Chis their is a easy way to sort that one out is to try the both ways, as for my birds they sometimes dont fly when I let them out another time they will, I get some results so I leave them do what they want to do,a lot of it is the distances they fly short or long if its long they must have fuel in the tanks to do that, if short I would have thought one would have to keep them a bit short so they trap I myself dont worry about the short ones as mine are over feed anyway if I win one its a bonase for me they get nothing but corn and water my birds are happy all I wont is to get my birds home their my pets.

hi chris, when i let my ybs out i stay out of sight, or go sit in the house while they are exercising because if im seem they wont fly for long................as far as im concerned one of the most important things for ybs is to exercise well and to go ranging, once they are training/racing they will click into the routine and once flying well will eat correctly too and trap when needed.

Chris agree with David on this one, i myself always kept out of the way and watched from the kitchen window or even from the field were i was taking the dog a walk, doing 2 things with one stone |

thats right don, feeding and exercising goes hand in hand.......if exercising properly everything clicks into place, and once they are ranging they wont want to land on house roofs because they get to know the routine of either flying or trapping into the loft.
