| ok, this has been discussed before but its something to talk about............
how do you choose your pairings? by winner to winner/besrt to best......or do you go on pedigree or the look/feel of a bird, or do you take eyesyn into account ?
any thoughts ? |

| David i have not been able to find the dvd were i have seen this theory about the tail. when it comes to choosing your pairs if you look at the top tail feather you will see on the Quill that the feather will be either narrow on the left or narrow on the right his theory is if the feather is narrow on the left you pair it to a bird were it is narrow on the right maybe members at some time could check on previous pairings bearing in mind both birds are suitable for each other there was also a piece on blues the dark shading at the bottom of the tail should be as dark as possible and long What i would like to know if any members pair birds together of different families in trying to change the distance of the families |

| Theories are just theories. THE BASKET THEORY, that's the theory that works for me. The only way to become successful at breeding pigeons is to create a family of birds, based on a successful family. It takes time and money, lots of it. The best way I have found is to first find a successful fancier, who flies the same distance as you who is successful. Then try and buy from him the very best cock you can afford. Then try and buy four hens the same way bred, either sisters, nieces, daughters or grand daughters. Breed the said cock with all four hens. This is called bulling. By the end of the first season, you will have a team of birds all the same way bred and half siblings. 3 rounds 24 birds. Now you have the basis for the following season for establishing your strain. This is just a quick synopsis of the system. You must make records of every mating. |

| Yes Gary we all know what you are talking about its been around since man started racing pigeons all i was trying to say this was a theory that some members may like to check out on there own birds and thought thats what the site was about something new to talk about |

| So many theorys around its a nightmare for beginners like my self , garys view is good but expensive, what i have found out its no longer a working mans sport, i wouldn,t have the racers in my loft if it wasn,t for people on this site, the point i am trying to say is with the yb,s i have not being tested this year all i can do is let them pair and see what happens next year. Maybee the year after i would pair from the results of these pairing if I was honest |
