That's a bit vague mate and to get a true picture of how matings can produce what, then it's a hell of a lot more complex. It's like opening up a can of worms.

ive never had it, ive asked this before on other sites but either no-one has done it or they have been confused by the question of two blues paired togeather breeding a chequer......... so you have definately bred a cheq from two blue bars gary ?

ah right, excellent....ive never heard of it been done before but have thought it piossible as we sometimes get a blue bar with three bars and a slight couple of black flecks on the wings which would make it a cheq with a few more wouldnt it.............

Not all have black splashes, it can be an outline on the feathers. This is another area that I find fascinating. But that site explains it in laymans terms, it's a all about dominant and recessive genes, some are hidden, others are sex linked. Some can be down to two recessive factors that are hidden, but when they are reunites, say a blue and a cheque, you can get a pied. etc, etc

It normally is mate, I am one of those fanciers who finds a bird with black splashes appealing. But I'm not really a colour merchant, that's my mates department. I'm a blue and cheq man personally.
