hi chris, i think the splashes/flecks can be either in the flights on on the body feathers also............ive a red and a few mealy cocks but havnt checked them yet to see if they have any.

Initially the mealy is a blue, but because of certain dominance factors, they come out red, but there's a whole lot of factors involved, but because of the recessive genes the hidden ones, certain pigeons can produce some surprises.
