put a cock and hen in the dovecott with another cock that was already in,for a hour they were very aggressive towards each other,how long will they act like this,cheers frankie.

hi frankie, are they fantails/fancy birds or racers ? i would think they will be aggressive to each other until one becomes dominant over the other, even then cocks will allways be aggressive towards each other, even if it is to a lesser degree.....JMO

hi frankie, i think they will calm down a bit once one of them becomes the "boss" of the dovecote, but they will still probably fight to a certain degree until the weaker bird gives way..........

all pigeon lofts are like this , so i wouldnt worry too much frankie.

It's like anything else a pecking order has to be established, it's like in our race and breeding lofts, the more dominant birds fight for the top boxes..
This is what helps us discover our better birds.
It's natural behaviour as David rightly said.
Although I do believe a lot of the fancy breeds can be extremely aggressive, so much so, some have to be fed individually.
