| found this on another site about pigeons bought at lier market supposedly.
following an outbreak of infection from imported birds from abroad into wales a number of lofts have been put into isolation these consist of north road flyers along with a few south road flyers one flyer returning from holiday found his loft full of dead birds another who bought at same time has lost 40 plus ones bought ??another who bought over 70 has been put into isolation his loss is not known a south road flyer haveing bought 12 has todate lost his entire youngbird team and is in isolation all fanciers who went on trip are not able to fly until its proven they are clear of affection??? dont buy birds from abroad supposedly bought on a trip to lier from newport
i hope anyone with problems has the best of luck ...feel sorry for them.
anyone else know of this? as i havent heard anything other then whats on another site. |

| I heard something about this a few months back, birds were just dropping off perches, but I'm sure it wasn't in Wales though. They had bought a few birds from Belgium. Trouble is though, you find a lot of Belgium fanciers are antibiotic mad and their birds immune systems are shot. That's why I always say about quarantining new birds before allowing them to come into contact with your birds. I know it's easier said than done and I have in the past learned the hard way. I do feel sorry for all the guys involved and maybe a post mortem may reveal the cause. |

| The welsh SE fed is my fed, our secretary mentioned this to us the other day, It is in Wales and its true alegedly?? I hope we are not stopped from racing because of others buting in rubish instead o breeding from your own family. I hate taking in ybs from other lofts just about manage the exchange birds, but thats it, mixing lots of birds from differnt lofts always causes trouble. Anyway our first race is on sunday, havent heared anything yet so racings still on, I hope. |

| Just heared our first race which was to take place this sunday is cancelled...until further notice, because of the birds dying somewhere in south wales, about 100 miles from me and no one in our fed is affected, but its still cancelled. They are running tests, which sounds ominous as they might discover a real nasty then it might be the whole season off....??? |

| sorry to hear this martyn, bad news just the week before racing starts eh...........it seems a bit drastic stopping your fed from racing when you are so far away from the effected area, and none of the members have had any problems, it makes you wonder going by this if they could stop everyone outside of wales racing this season......? |

| i've just come off the phon from my mate in wales and he said its not as bad as people are making it sound apparently they ( the feds/ welsh union have only called off their first races and from what i can gather is that it is only a small amount of lofts that are affected |
