| It is a great shame that they will all be divided and mostly sold to China. But many would not of even made the sale, like the old old saying, Good apples never fall far from the tree. Nothing is truer in pigeon racing.

| i think one of their sayings gary was "you can sell the fruit, but not the tree"......or something like that.
now the tree is going, and will be interesting to see where they go and how much they make, also interesting to find out in future maybe if they produce winning birds still.........??? |

| A lot of good birds were sold locally and for many years this has been the case. It was the fanciers that created this great family. Many years dedication and selective breeding. We don't the need the Janssen Bros, we got the Peel Bros. |

| Well David being an eyesign man yes I can answer 1 of your questions mate and thats looking at those eyes the quality in the janssens loft is still the same, and I would stick my house on the fact that they will produce winners and lots of them...you are so right though you buy the apples but not the tree, and that tree has just been felled so its over once those few are dead. I just bought a janssen fron jan and hans eijerkamp in holland from thier CHE and for more money than I would like to mention, being that his pedegree is full of janssen brothers I am surprised they are not buying those janssens as its the last chance they will get and they got the money. |

| i was discussing this sale with my uncle and granddad today. and the question quality came up and as far as i know the brother that was left was not the one that dealt with the breeding he was the money man. so wither the janssen magic is still there or not i cant answer but i would of rather had one off them in there hay day than whats for sale now but thats jmo
dose any one know why none of the family never kept the pigeons going ????? |

| hi cawdy, you right, loiue wasnt the pigeon fancier responsible for the day to day care and management, he only became more involved when one of the main brothers died..........he was the man who delt with the "office work" who did the pedigrees and was in charge of sales etc. as far as i know, none of the brothers ever married, therfor they will have no children..........they did have a sister but weather she had children i dont know. p.s. i think ray peel could be a long lost illegitimate son of one of the janssen bros............ |

| I was just thinking, obviously louis janssen isnt well and thats why the birds are for sale, his family which I presume made up of nieces, nephews or even more distant as the brothers and sisters didnt really marry and have direct decendants like children. So as these family members are not fanciers and know little about pigeons, when they see how much money this auction has made or will make, might have a shock, and think this is easy money breed some janssen birds and get loads of money, we might see the janssen name agin in the future, just a thought...? |

| I'm certain without a doubt. The legacy will live on, but it's a shame it's the end of line for the family, but I wonder what local fancier was helping look after them. It will come out in time. But you cannot help but feel a little sad, as I doubt there will never be another family of pigeons ever to match their greatness. |
