| i use quite a bit of barley in my mixes, but never for babies in the nest, my opinion is it is too sharp for the old birds to regurgatate, just my opinion. |

| ive heard some top fanciers are lovers of barley, and i do think it is a good seed used in the right circumstances, but i`m not a big lover of it, and i certainly wouldnt give it to parents feeding yb`s........JMO |

| I always used to use barley all year round, 50% or more in winter, but not with the youngsters. However I have heared good things about it and a good fancier down here in pembrokeshire always uses it and flys well, my birds always look good on it in the winter. Might try a bit this year witht the youngsters. |

Might try a bit this year witht the youngsters. We used it when I was in the UK but we got the Peeled barley in 25Kg bags , it cost a little more but the sharp edges of the husk are removed. I bet it is hard to get nowadays though but certainly worthwile getting if possible, We left it in front of the birds in hoppers and fed the birds normally with the widowhood mix. If a bird was hungry it would take a little barley but as they dont like it they will only eat it if they do need it. |

Watched the video of Staf Van Reet which was done by Dave Allen and he always had barley in the hoppers at all times within his widowhood loft and if the birds were hungry they would eat the barley |
