they will moult their body feathers but not flights,thats what the darkness does delays the moult so you can race them further as far as i know.its still new to me as well so if i am wrong i,m sure someone will put me right

Steve they should get rid of there body feathers so they have a new body but it helps them stay in full wing for longer

But it's a fine balance, bring them of the dark to early they fall a part, keep them on to long and you will have problems getting them through the moult confused confused

Steve Van Breeman had the best youngbird system if you can get hold of his video, i say video because it was filmed before DVD was used

some people take them of a week before me some the week after so theres plenty of leaway

there is no minuses with the dark system apart from youve got the hasttle of doing it in my opinion its all plus people who say they are no good as yearlings are talking rubbish

the darkness is 11 weeks but i start darkness as soon as i put them over and take them off bourges week the longest day of the year
