im on me way

i went to my loft this morrning befor skool with me uncal as me dad is full of flu and had to sleep it off coz my mum said and i was feeding the birds and i noticed other day me dad wouldnt let me in as eggs was due to hatch and i went donw today ...

and i seen this on the top so asked uncal to take a pic



and ive got me sister to pop it on as me dad is out ....

nice to see somebody young in the sport

yes I fly as rudd and son, my son is 12 and interested a bit, but not like I was at his age. He now wants to work for poket money so might get him cleaning out

my daughter thinks im some sort of wierdo keeping pigeons, i like to wind her up and say does her mates want to come and have a look at the loft and birds............. wont tell yuou what she says.

well philip is into all animals his had ducks and chickens and then he asked for some pigeons so we use to have a fantail in the back garden then he thought of catching a sem from the street and came in with 2 and breed from them then let them go and kept the yb and then asked for a big pigeon loft for xmas and we got him one and he is always wanting to go and see the birds and helps cleaning out and also puts his pocket money in the tin .... and then he as everyone involed and now he is wanting a new y/b loft next year ...as his uncal was saying about it to him and he as asked if we will go halfs on the loft

good to see a youngster interested and involved like that phil, looks like young philip is a future champion in the making.......... keep it up philip, good lad.

thanxs all i hope he can do well for him self this year and many years to come .... its now time for him to learn for him self .... we have just got a old racing pigeon lad for help and with philip off skool for a week he can do a bit with the birds ...

yes you,v got a special one there, when I WAS A LAD. I remember loads of people kept pigeons, in 1 street there were 9 lofts and 4 in the ajoining street, some clubs now only got 7 members. Also tons of others had budgies, canaries or something, kids now want vurtual pets on the computer, If they forget to feed them they dont die and the rspca wont get you so I SUPOSE THATS SOMETHING

yes martyn, i remember when i was a kid there was pigeon lofts all over the estate..........every where i went there was a pigeon loft.

there was 6 in street i lived none there now

like i say steve its a dying sport the people we help the better it will be and the longer it will go on

yes it is rpra should do something about it aswell, they dont seem to be doing much

I really do think if the whpu, rpra, ect. did some fund raising and just used a bit of imagination could come up with a long term stratergy to get youngsters interested in the sport, it wouldnt take much imagination. I am fully sure someone like Louella and not just them who lets face it make millions from pigeons, could and would suport something to get them into pigeons, after all without fanciers studs no longer exist.

Thin is this business with the new ets style life rings just goes to show, they live in the momment for now, and dont look forward but follow the sheep and jump on the nearest band wagon. They should employ some P.R People to brainstorm the sports potential and come up with an action plan..Well thats my fairy story for today..

Thanks dav.. its martyn, never mind, anyway its just what I feel about the sport it really gets me going kids love birds and animals, whenever kids come round to play with my son they always ask about the birds.

yea i said at the meeting last week why not try and get young lads/kids into the sport and i also said im not borthard as i know philip will enjoy the birds and raceing he now looking forward to starting season and i said to members even if they was more to come into to the sport why dont clubs do a free year or something like a small young group raceing even if it is for sweets and try and build the sport back up they all just laughed at me and the chairman of the club ive know since i was a toddler and he come and asked philip would he like to race a few birds against him for a bag of sweets as a prize and philip said yes plz but he is just at the point now where he is comeing on and learning but everyone in the club just laughed when i said that to them ...
so now philip talks about raceing a man for a big bag of sweets and he is down the loft watching and ask stuff ...
but we all been kids once and he is on his way and least this way it keeps them intrested in the sport

im sure secretary will make sure philip gets the sweets phil

ignore the knackers phill,you do whats best ,these people are a disgrace to the sport they should be encouraging young lads into the sport,they are one of the reason kids stay away because they chase them away in a sense.the same ones wonder why its on the decline,they want to have a look at them selves first..you,ve set meright off now phill lol lol
