| I do belive that blues breeding only blues is a myth, if you can breed a blue fron 2 chequers then that blue has chequered in the genetics and a red and a chequer can breed a blue so that blue has red and chequered in the genes, so those blues paired together will have more chequered than blue behind them so why shouldnt they breed other than blue? I have never bred a red from 2 blues but have bred chequers from them. Just like the myth about only red cocks have black splashes total rubish. |

ray could be more a mozake than a red unless a red has done the hen sean |

| you need to look at the actual colours and patterns present and how these genes react on each other
from all the material i have read on colour genetics this is what i have come up with
the two main base colours are red and blue these genes are on the sex chromosomes and red in dominant over blue basically two blues cant breed a dominant red but that is a forum of recessive red
and there are 6 main pattern form and the order the are below is the order they run in dominance
T bar (most dominant) dark Cheq Cheq Light cheq bar barless (least dominant )
so a T bar can possibly be carrying one gene for any of the other pattern forms and two t bars paired together carrying the same pattern gene can breed that pattern
and ray the only thing i think that the youngster is a recessive form of red which both parents must be carrying
hope this helps |

| Ray i would say that this is a throw back have a look and see in the genenrations if there has been different colours paired together and see how this fits with the colour thrown
Or has the hen been with a different cock bird which colour is red????? |

| Yep i remember the blood red pigeons George, Barkers and Gits, they always threw them. The terminology is American David. Our Meuleman Van Den Bosche lines are forever throwing out surprises, chequers and blues throwing out pieds and chocolates. It baffles me sometimes. Usually like Don said go back in the generations of the pedigree and you will usually find the culprit. |

| I hate to argue with anyone about pigeons because it just isnt worth it..but rainbow I have seen a red hen with black splashes, so that means it insnt true about only cocks having them unless I am telling lies and I can asure you Im not and why would I. And Im glad someone eles has bred colours other than blues from blues because I have and its not impossible, I once bred an all white pigeon like fantial white from 2 chequers with no white on them, how I dont know but I did. |
