Hi Ginger I was just looking, something has split them again (Hawks probably). Fortunately the birds are very fit so many more should make it back ok. It will put them in good stead for the two main races to come and condition them if they have the mettle to make it back. Let hope they do. |

Hi Ginger there are 50 birds per page on the basket list so if you count the pages then 410 birds went and 206 on the day and 2 birds were there first thing this morning so they are going to be arriving all through the day hopefully. |

I think around 800 birds and a month or two before training began there were two bad incidets with hawks attacking them around the loft and around 200 were lost in those events. |

No its far better returns than the RPRA enjoyed at a mere 90 miles in Hotspot 2 (Not that anybody is at fault) as the birds in Somerset have got to 125 miles and had 3 hotspots and in any case ALL the OLR in England have been hit with something this year. Last year Terry got over 500 birds to the final without mollycoddling them. I think Hawks have traumatised many of the YBs birds this year but that is my opinion. On a brighter note a few more birds have made it back and Ginger has a brave bird that has returned under its own steam. Still plenty time for more returnees tomorrow. |

glad you both got birds still in the event You are right of course but in a OLR if you run one you are behind a rock and a hard place. The birds are there to do battle and the elements and the RSPB and their irresponsible over conservation of Raptors is a Big Hurdle that the birds have to get over. Some birds handle it better than others but it is like roulette at the moment it seems. |
