Everything in moderation I think David. Much of the time,we tend to give it to the birds (feel good moment) for us , more so than the birds I suspect require. I still remember Levi saying, that he did an experiment with his birds (Breeding farm/humans) 20,000/30,000 birds in relation to giving them grit. None for over 12 months etc & in his opinion they were non the worse at the end of the day type of thing. I also have known of good flyers here who never to given it there birds & the only grit they have is, what they find in the garden type of thing. "Spin & Bling" Thou !!!!!! a bag of grit is one of those cheapy's in my view, that shouldn't really break anybody's bank at the end of the day. ***** |

| Hi everyone! Let me share my experience regarding this matter. Grits is necessary especially during breeding. During racing season, I gave my team a grits everyday except Monday. I won a champion trophy. I also won a champion trophy even I only gave my team a grits once in a week and I also won a champion trophy even I didn't gave a grits. The only thing I know is it is very important in breeding season. |

| I don't know what would be best for our pigeons. I just share my experience. It may be wrong or right but of course we are continuously learning the method we used. I'm also here to listen and understand their ideas and I'm very much willing to share my little knowledge regarding pigeon management and I'm not saying my system is correct. I just share what I did. |

Joseph it's all about trial and error mate what works best for you and your pigeons This site is brilliant for this as different fanciers have different methods and are willing to share and yes it's all about learning mate But as I always say I Know Nothing and let the pigeons do the talking mate But your view are always welcome plus being in a different parts of the world you are able to show what difference type of racing you undertake in your country All the best Don |

you have just hit the nail on the head joseph, all these british fanciers going over to belgium / holland, to buy these so called long distance birds, im not saying there no good but, not many will cross the channel and face the terrain through our country, and up in to the north of it, our birds may be a little slower but they have got true grit in my oppinion:cheers: |
