help please

got 20 days old chick let my birds out today cock didn't come back will the hen still feed the chick if not what can I do? thanks

was getting worried thought it was the cock who did all the hard work thanks.

should be ok at 20 days butch, it should be pecking around in the corn around that age anyway.........ive usually found the hen looses interest feeding ybs before the cock does, but at 20 days it will be ok............JMO


my advise would be to feed in the nestbox, then the yb will copy the hen eating......

Don't worry butch,
she will still feed it for a while maybe best to shut her in her nest box with food and plenty of fresh water, so that another cock dosn't try to claim the nest box and scalp the youngen.

If she did lose interest you can leave 20 maples to soak all day, and pop them down the youngens throat last thing at night, be sure to stick hes head in the drinker after. The hen should carry on feeding it for a while. If you see it pecking in the food pot on its own you can stop with the maples.

Hopefully the cock will come back.
