Birds will adapt. They have done for thousands of years. Smartest or fittest or survival types will anyway. Hate to say this folks, but in my opinion young bird racing is not a leveller of the quality of pigeons. It is a crap shoot. But must say this, your young birds that return are above the others. Good young birds usually make good old birds. 98% of the time. So why worry about the ones missing? No matter the strain, pedigree or from birds related to Champions, very few Golden Couples breed Super pigeons. 98% are junk. Fancier gets a good one or two from a certain strain he wants to develop that strain. Pedigrees are just pieces of paper. Any thing can be written on them. I have spent a lot on pigeons over the years. Basically two families. Lots of junk but some very good ones bred from them also. So, do not mourn the ones missing. If they were good enough they would have come with the others.

never get ybs reported ever I think in 4 seasons I have had 5 reported 3 of them by non fanciers and one reported dead by a farmer and the other by some dodgey geezer wanting a cracking looking yearling that got lost in the 2 races it was entered in  Laughing phoned me with a withheld tel no. and stated he was phoning for his son so I duly told him the yearling was this and that due to his bullshit ....who knows where they get to I usually end up with 60% of me yb team left after 5 or 6 races over the last 4 seasons but where the others get to is a mixed bag I would think ..some not up to scratch mentally, some not having the vitality, wires, bop, some carrying ailments some under trained ,some gone into other lofts and never get reported, and the ones that do get reported seldom are wanted by their owners so a lot don't get reported after bad experiences.look at nehu pigeons ,don't have to be stamped or tel no ring ...what a feckin joke all birds should be marked but these jokers seem to think this is a adequate way to report pigeons through a mediation rather than the person responsible for the bird ...what the fecks all that about  Rolling Eyes passing the buck that's what its all about ...not saying all are like that in nehu but hey you know the ones when the bird aint marked up ....rant over  Laughing
