| we only have them in the corridor daz there on 4x2 timbers with a layer of sand then easy bed on top to that we spinkel a little loft white each day we have now made the loft acccesable the whole lenght so once in the cabin we no need to go out ie saves trampling damp feet to each section |

| Over the years I thought about grills and sort of liked the idea, not because I didn't want to clean out or anything, but liked the idea of the droppings going through them.
When I saw the Europa classic lofts and seen a large hole about 2 ft deep over which was placed metal grid flooring I loved the idea, however when I priced the stuff up it was very expensive and though I built the new loft in a way to accommodate them I changed my mind, as I couldn't justify 700 quid for a floor.
Last year when I bought new boxes I bought floor grills for them, but after a few days they were dirtier than non at all so I binned them. So I think the floor type would not work for me either and Im not now a fan. If you think about it realisticly it would make you lazy and then defeats the object.
However I am going to fit under floor heating this year to the race loft, a false floor about a foot high with tube heating, that way the loft floor will be bone dry and warm and might get super form from them, as last year the season started and it was very cold in the lofts. Not sure if others have tried it or have it but its for me and Im going to try it out.

| ive been in a loft with under floor heating it works fine i was told that the only down side was if not used correctley the birds came into form to early ie feb march also i did notice the birds that had no form of heat didnt look as forward as the ones that did he now only uses the floor heating from mid march but its clear to see the condition on the birds but having said that come late may june both lofts erform the same but the heated one strikes in the early few races |

| fair comment martyn I am not overly interested in having grills on the floor but I don't want the hens to pair up which is why I am installing in the hens section only the other sections have beechwood wood chips which I much prefer the deep litter method the birds always seem to be in good order on it but the hens are starting to get frisky with eachother so its v-perches and grills and in the flight during the day and hopefully this will nip it in the bud atb |
