they will never admit the decline in song birds is down to the massive up-surge of sparrow hawks, gos hawks and peregrine falcons .... Evil or Very Mad bunch of idiots honestly ...its the rspb that has introduced hundreds of these breeds and promote nest sites in inner city areas which is not their natural habitat Rolling Eyes

most of the general public have no idea of how many are in the towns and cities and I doubt the RSPB wants them to know
the peregrine appeal fund has been a massive earner for the RSPB and if the total was ever given the income would be millions
the drum is not being beaten as loudly about nasty gamekeepers now but as for clearing pigeons from out of the streets thats one gong they WILL KEEP sounding ,.............who gives a feck about pigeons or as they say "flying rats"and it only because Mr Joe Average has noticed the decline in recent years of song birds that something is being said now
wait and see what gets the blame !, pesticides , modern farming and we all must do more , but they wont point the finger at themselves for interfering with nature
neither are they too quick to point fingers at the cat population because of all the old ladies making donations to the RSPB and buying RSPB backed products

pity pigeons do not kill other birds because there would be an inquirey in an instant

i do have cat problems myself, but to be honest I cant see the cat population responsible for any part of the song bird/wild bird decline.....I put it firmly on the sparrow hawks and the protected killers the rspb protect, JMO

it wouldn't surprise me if the rpra are hand in glove somewhere along the line with the rspb........over the last few years of this raptor scam it seems to have not progressed at all, and just had a lot of money pumped into it.........JMO

what makes me laugh most of all is that the rspb are asking the public to erect a nest site in your garden to enhance the population of songbirds -small birds ...what a joke that is as it would just be a meal place for the local sparrowhawk feckin idiots honestly and that chris packham has his finger in more pies at the bbc than little jack horner these feckers are only in it to feather their own nests with £50 notes Twisted Evil

a lot of the protectionist bodies acknowledge the cat problem and I doubt anyone knows the true scale of the damage that is done by them because of the nocturnal habits of poor little puss
as for the RPRA not getting off its arse and helping the people who pay their wages ,.........well nothing new there then
and as for pumping money towards the raptor problem that is a complete waste of time and funds
there can only be one sure way of doing your bit towards the problem and that is to take direct action yourself ,FFS in Germany and other European countries you have the right to protect your property and livestock without the risk of being prosecuted

I tend to disagree David Smile Smile with your thought's on cats etc. Once they go feral they will kill just about anything to get a feed & even the average house cat has it in them type of thing to enjoy the local birdlife. Now !!! lol! lol! lol! one for the pussy lovers here, from someone who would do everything possible to protect his  local birdlife. The only good cat Wink Wink is a dead cat. cheers

I think every house in the uk would need to own a cat for it to decrease the wild bird population knackered............but that's just my opinion.

over the last 5 - 6 years ive kept pigeons ive had one pigeon killed by a cat....

Cats are cunning little B*****s etc David all  Smile  Smile  Smile  to there owners, but by nature they are real killing machines. Especially to the local birdlife. So much so, that many of the local councils  place a cerfew on the owners of the cats here to keep them inside locked up at sunset type of thing. cheers

yes your correct knackered, they are certainly very cunning.....and certainly killing machines too.

as for being responsible for the decline in birdlife to the extent that is happening is nonsence ....this is rspb propaganda blaming anything rather than the true problem ie hawks, bops etc.......

the local councils are probably hand in glove with the hawk lovers and fund them "clearing our cities of flying vermin"

Not down here David Smile Smile it was the push by the local rate payers that made the local council's come to the party etc. All cats are tagged just the same as dogs here,  so any that are caught out after dark are sent to the sin bin lol! lol! lol! & the owners fined. Now !!! I repeat bounce bounce bounce The only good cat Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes ??? is a dead cat. cheers

Yes the RSPB are in denial about raptors and theres nothing anyone could ever say or do to reverse this.

I honestly saw last spring a skylark singing high up in the sky and it was pursued by a sparrowhawk, I never seen him take it and couldn't say if the singing was because he was saying youll never catch me or if it was because it was shitting its self. But I saw it and this is whats going on every where, Where are all the cuckoos gone? eaten.

Pembrokeshire has the highest and densest population of peregrines in the world, speak to the resident bird ringers from the BTO who I know well, as I used to be one of them and they laugh and tell me Im a fool, even though I can prove it to them, they just are not interested and its one of the reasons I no longer spend my weekends and evenings ringing for them.

cats indeed do have the right to roam granted by King James if I remember correctly after the black death
however a cat once it has left your grasp/premises ARE NOT considered property unlike a dog , so if you pick one up in the street it is YOURS while you hold it and it does not matter that someone has pedigree papers for it ,....its yours
if you wish to terminate its life and send it to the vets ,put a bullet into its head you may do , so long as it is humanely destroyed , cruelty cannot be condoned
if you consider what the bird population of the U.K is and then consider the cat population you don't need to be Albert Einstein to work out what damage is being done
couple that to the BOP problem ,feral mink and other reintroductions both "legal" and illegal and THE MASSIVE increase in peregrine and Sparrow Hawk numbers which by any stretch of the imagination cannot be justified is why we have such a massive decline in song birds
the cuckoo has been mentioned as being in decline and the answer to that is again Sparrow Hawks , the cuckoo's flight signature is very similar to a female sparrow hawks and when the sparrow hawk is breeding it becomes very teritorial sees an invader and the cuckoo is on the menu ,........but by the time the RSPB concludes that cuckoos will be a thing of the past

as far as I am concerned the RSPB is governed , run and supported by a corrupt shower of knob jockeys

Council Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes but that then ??? lowers our rates etc if your a believer Wink Wink in the local spin. That being said David Smile Smile somewhat differant here, as the government tried to put a freeway through my valley a few years ago now & the likes of myself & others revolted "Big time". interesting post Klausey, but I think youll find you cant claim or kill a cat found wandering......the Cruelty to Animals Act 1876 and another 13 acts of parlemant protect them, also a cat is treated by the law as goods, not property and, therefore, the taking of a cat from its owner will amount to theft.....
