now our hal mentioned fennel tea a few weeks ago and so it got me thinking so after a bit of research I been to the health shop and bought 3 types of herbal tea bags fennel, dandelion and Echinacea so I am going to trial it instead of using the tea with the pigeon on the front watch this space I will let ya know my findings I am gonna boil and stew 1 each of the 3 tea bag types and add to 2 litres of water

I will do david they should have no problem drinking it as the fennel has a slight aniseed flavour...the droppings and how they loft fly should be a good indication of its worth to start with

tried the tea out on one section of birds and have to say I am very happy with it ...droppings like marbles and down feathers everywhere left it in for 3 days birds drank it happily in fact they seemed to quite like it ...2 other ingredients I added was licorice root and burdock which obviously has a anise flavour which is obviously why the birds did not mind it ...some very useful herbs out their for the birds and man alike the licorice and burdock were purchased loose ...I added a tea bag of Echinacea ,dandelion, fennel and 2 grams of burdock and 2 grams of licorice root to 3 litres of water

its the health of the birds which was the main factor for me I don't say it will make them go faster its not a stimulant its for health benefits which of course help but if I win a gold medal at the Olympics you will be the first to know George I formed the tea as a detox for the birds liver and kidneys after a race |

I would never give my birds caffeine George these 5 ingredients are caffeine free I have done some research into the ingredients as already stated this tea is not a stimulant its a detox and just to add that Echinacea can actually slow down the breakdown of caffeine so to give the two together would be a bad idea

yes your correct George that's why I did some research on the contents of the 5 ingredients but thanks for your point of view its very much appreciated ...I am also going to trial giving thyme tea to ybs for young bird sickness at a friends loft who has had it very bad last few seasons he is in his 70's now bless him going to give the tea twice per week going to buy the thyme loose though and just add the licorice root to make it palatable
