| We have a few High Energy Mix here { Super Mix} as i call it ; but in the end we decided to mix our own as its only the last 2 & half feeds in the week that we feed it ;the other advantage was we could check each of the grain's first before mixing it so having a qauility controll with the grain being used; ;compared to buying it already mixed with maybe a substanted grain that had been put in ; also out here none had brown rice or Peanuts in them ; & the one thing with Peanuts we try & use Fresh ones that have not gone off ; |

Mark that is the Matadour type of feeding system But there is nothing wrong with feeding heavy but training hard your birds need the fuel to fly |

| But I am not knocking the fanciers who buy direct from the farmer as there are a lot of fanciers who win big time buying corn this way |

| Don Webb ; the main reason on us changing about 15 years ago to carbo & then the super mix later in the Week { about 12 % Protein} ; was the way our birds worked the Box or Loft as you would say ;they go up another gear ;too much protein or lead sinkers as we say out here make them Sluggist ;you have only got to look at there Keels & check out the colour to confirm that ;too many Peas beans etc give off bad Toxins & effects there Blood flow;If everyone fed Peas etc & raced the same birds no one would know the differance;as you would be all getting the same results etc;once the birds are on the Carbo mix they become much lighter & bouyent in the hand ;they tend to fill there airsacks out & work the Box at a higher distance in the air & when fit will run ;yes Run ;thats straight line flying the box ;usley flat out . cheers

Interesting about the peas/toxins K I remember many years ago reading about an article on canker by Gallez etc while in Malta. Handling the top birds there he said they all had canker as such & tho being top birds for that area the level of compettion was lower in his view because of the canker. Knackered in Malta there are twice as many fanciers now than when Jules Gallez was there and the competition is high The reason for knowing this ( I know something ) is because I have friends who live in Malta and race there so I know the type of racing they are up against |

| We went with the CCF about 18 years ago to Mildura 500 plus miles & Renmark about 670 miles & had day birds in Both iliberations we here had 5 late breds on the day in Renmark by 6.30 on the night ; but CCF like there birds tracking more inland to them ; Warnmabool would be over 600 miles to us ;which is no worry ;but we have our own race program ;with Mildura ; Renmark & Launceston ; Its a long year ; never know tho . cheers |

| we get a lot of headwinds on our north road route after 5 races we are into Scotland so I think the energy mix set them up well and feed a widowhood mix the rest of the week...would love to get farm grains but sadly no suppliers down here and would not have anywhere to store it either ...you just make the best of whats on offer |
