PostSubject: Hell of a day today.   Wed Mar 25, 2015 5:32 pm

today our club had its first combined training toss from 8 miles, I didn't send any but soon as they were out of the basket 2 turns and the falcon drove the lot down and into the trees.

Then at about 11 am my birds were out flying at home and a goshawk had a swipe at them just as they were landing, off they went and bunched up then as they came back to land it had another go and drove them all over the place.
As if that wasn't enough a pair of peregrines then started having a go at the scattered ones which had gone up high.

I was 10 away after an hour but they were dropping back all day, as I finished feeding up just now I am a 2012 race hen missing been raced up to 250 miles, so she is probably dead.

All that around the loft and I haven't even started training yet...?

I do think pembs has the highest raptor count in the world lads....no matter when you go training or where you get hit, and I can go 3 times a day 3 different times and locations to split things up, and just occasionally one of the batches will come together and slip through, but not often.

I think the birds get wise and use to it after a yb season as they seem to change their behaviour once they see a peregrine and it surprises me some days when I see them drove into the trees how they come back, but I get them all from training sometimes even though they have been hit.

I just breed a few more ybs for the peregrines....lol

One crap day Rudd, sadly it appears. Many feel your pain I suspect Wink Wink  sole destroying tho for many when this happens & it does nothing to bring the enjoyment factor into play. Especially for the new comers to our sport when this type of thing strikes them. cheers
