PostSubject: Racing to allotments   Racing to allotments EmptySat Apr 04, 2015 8:01 pm

I now race my birds to a back garden loft but used to race to an allotment so exercise my birds whenever it suits me, fitting in with work, family etc:

Have seen a post on another site where a flyer can not/will not let his birds out because another loft close by has pigeons out all day.

What is the problem ?

Is it lack of consideration by one or lack of control by the other ?

Have to say when I raced to the allotment we were all on natural. We knew about widowhood racing but roundabout had not been invented.

imo the one who complains that he cannot let birds out should find a solution that fits by getting there earlier than the other fella, or teaching his own birds a system.

He should be working at a solution rather than moaning.

Very true caramel, since I've started up again last spring my pigeons seem to throw up another problem for me to solve every day.
Like you say, that fancier should find a way to work around it.

I admire guys who race on allotments ...don't think I could with all the goings on but to expect someone to keep their birds in is beyond me when your flying to such a location you cant dictate what others do its like it or get out pirat

We fly on the same allotments' and it's a case of getting your birds out when you can we try to get down early before the others come down.

Full credit to fanciers who race on allotments it has to be hard

But with regards other birds when I raced with my dad had the same situation the next door neighbour had his birds on open hole and on natural got talking to a few fanciers and was told

Take your birds training but keep them a little hungry so they trap and that's what we did never had a problem with the birds the only problem was the birds never had a fly round the loft
